Dear Everyone,
Well this week went pretty good. We had four baptisms on Thursday but only two of them counted for us because of the changes of the areas.
This week was super intense actually, a lot of things happened. The four who got baptised are Gaby and Cesar, and also Rosaura and Esteban. Rosaura and Esteban are members of the family of Giovany and Aby (who still hasn´t gotten baptised) and so it was really awesome to see everyone there in white. Actually that night on Thursday we had a total of seven baptisms because the other Elders of the ward baptised three others. It was really a great week.
Now we´ve just got to look ahead and plan for June. We actually do have some baptisms planned for the following week, the 12th. The only thing that is in the way of two of the baptisms is that they need to get married first. They are all for it but the husband needs to get all his paperwork in order, but there´s no big problem.
Rosario didn´t come to church this Sunday so we don´t really know whats up there. But we´re excited and she´s exited too. We just need to go and swing by her house.
We just got a new district leader, they had special transfers, and now Elder Lambertson is our district leader! I actually know Elder Lambertson because when I was in Merida he was the mission secretary and we always saw each other because my companion at the time was Elder Dodge and he was a zone leader so we were always stopping by the offices. So yeah, I´m super excited to have him in our district. He´s a pretty funny guy and we get along great.
This Sunday was pretty intense because of two things, one, Elder Trumbo taught gospel principles. OK. Elder Trumbo only has like two weeks in the mission and he doesn´t really know Spanish very well and he was struggling throughout the whole lesson really badly. It was super funny because when he was sort of finishing up he asked what time it was and Elder Smith told him he still had twenty minutes! Elder Trumbo like let out a groan and said ¨oh no.......¨ and everyone laughed. But he did a good job, he may not speak perfectly but he had it all organized. And the other thing that happened that was intense was during the talk that a recent convert gave about baptism. He told a short story about a heavenly trial in which the victim was being accused of all his sins by Satan and the victims attorney was Christ, who during the whole accusation didn´t say a word. When Satan finished his list of sins committed by the accused, Christ stood up and addressed the Judge and telling Him that He had paid for everything that the accused had done. The Judge then proclaimed the man free. The story is actually a little longer but seeing as I don´t exactly have all the time in the world to write I shortened it.
But after hearing that story I just felt so thankful for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I have done so many stupid things in my life, so many errors, so many mistakes and He paid for it all. I cannot in any way pay the same price, but I can do what He wants of me.
I´ve learned so much as a missionary it´s ridiculous. There are so many things that I have done down here that I would never have done in my entire life. including holding a baby spider monkey.
I miss everyone and I hope that everyone is fine. Thank you for your prayers and everything and have a great week!
Love,
Elder Giles
